Hi! I’m Bobby Gotsch.

I believe everyone’s born with an inherent love for music.

I was seven years old, and my dad had come home with a brand new CD. Sitting on the cream-colored basement carpet, we slotted it into our basement boombox and pressed play. Suddenly, Hendrix's ferocious "Purple Haze" intro surged through the speakers, sending me into a rock-and-roll-induced euphoria, stage diving off the couch and playing air guitar around the entire room. In the following months, my incessant pleading wore him down, and I got to bring home my first electric—a Strat, because that’s what Jimi had.

My passion for music education grew directly alongside my love for playing. At age 14, I began teaching piano and guitar lessons after-school out of my parents’ home office. I went on to pursue jazz performance at the University of North Texas and worked full-time as a guitarist in the rich R&B, gospel, and country circuits in Dallas-Fort Worth. Since then, I earned educator licenses in Indiana and Illinois and served as a K-12 music teacher for three years.

Currently, I’m working towards earning my Master’s in Music Education at Indiana University and serve as an assistant director for the Indiana University Children’s Choir. Whether I’m teaching in an energetic classroom or in a calm one-on-one lesson, there’s nothing more rewarding than seeing the spark of inspiration on a student’s face—the same spark I felt when I first heard Hendrix.
